I was asked to design a blank guitar according to my own artistic vision for Vh1 Save the Music Foundation’s annual auction, to support after-school music programs. I was paired with a musician, Warren Haynes of the Almond Brothers Band, who ultimately would play the guitar live before sending it off to auction.

Thematically I explored my love for visionary art and combined it with some of Warren’s history as a musician. The large skull featured on the guitar is a Mule’s skull, in reference to his his own band, Gov’t Mule. The Cardinal perched upon it’s head represents his home state of North Carolina . I particularly enjoyed creating stars where each of the various nobs were to be housed on the guitar:

In the end Warren played the guitar live and signed it in New York, which sold to the highest bidder at auction.
